Boys Room

I have started thinking about colors etc.. for the new house. This is the bedding I picked out for the boys.It is space/planets theme. We can do the glow in the dark stars and I think it will grow with them.

Happy 5th Birthday Carter

Carter's party was a great success!! We had 8 kids and their parents together for swimming, supper and cake at the Spruce Grove Leisure Centre (www.trileisure.com) which is just a walk from our place. The kids were so good and Carter was so happy with everything. He was just beaming! I can't believe he is 5.

Getting Ready for the Party

Carter's party is at 4:00pm this afternoon and he was up at 6:15am asking if he should start getting dressed to go....it is going to be a long day!
Unfortunately, I couldn't get a Lightening McQueen cake pan to rent so I had to improvise and made a race track.

I was pleased with it until I started to put the cookie crumbs on for the road and that made everything quite messy.

I will post party pictures later tonight!

There is A LOT of prep work for these classes, but we had lots of fun and I think it will be worthwhile. Carter's birthday party is Sunday and I am going to attempt to do a Lightening McQueen cake. Hopefully I'm not biting off too much!

Where did the weekend go?

Not much going on for us this weekend. Joel and I both woke up Saturday feeling like we had been run over by a truck. So, we took turns resting while the boys watched movies and played. Luca cooperated with our plans by taking a 4 hour nap! He went to bed at his regular time and didn't get up until nearly 7:30am Sunday...he's back in our good books!

Here are a couple of picture I took today of the boys in the sweaters Gran sent for Christmas.

Luca is writing out the grocery list.....wieners, hot dogs, franks....

It was Gran's 94th birthday yesterday. She sounded great on the phone. I'm sure it had been ringing all day with calls from well wishers across the country.

On another exciting note...the 1st coat of paint is on the walls of the house!! We just about fainted when we peeked in today. We ran over to the show home to get the key to look around inside.

We should have our firm possession date very soon!!
Oh and I used my mixer 3 separate times today! I made bread in the morning, meatloaf in the afternoon and waffle batter for supper. Impressed?!?
I made the meatloaf for a cyberspace acquaintance. I belong to a website group called http://www.linkingparents.com/ . It mostly Edmonton and area moms and in this case the family has a 4 year old son experiencing a sleep disorder and between the two parents each are staying up alternate nights to ensure the boy doesn't stop breathing. Both are working parents so I cannot imagine the exhaustion. So, my small donation of meatloaf and homemade bread isn't much but hopefully fills a gap for one or two meals.
Tomorrow night Joel and I get to go out for dinner (yep you guessed right, The Keg) and then to the Jubilee Auditorium to see David Copperfield. What an adult evening......thank you Cindy & Leonard.....not sure what we would do without you!!

COLD

Current conditions in Edmonton: -27°C

OK it is flippin' cold out there! The dog looked up at me this morning and promised to pee on the mat all day if he didn't have to outside today!

We had a bit of a blizzard yesterday and thankfully I was able to work from home so I didn't have to venture far from home. Just out to get Carter from School and pick up Luca from the sitter. We didn't get nearly as bad a storm as hit Saskatoon. I have to talk to the inlaws to see how they made out as all the highways shut down and even streets in the city were closed. Here we were basically hit with a typical January on the prairies kind of day.

Tonight I have plans to go to a concert with a friend. And Monday I can't wait...Joel and I are going to the David Copperfield show! I got the tickets for his birthday.

My poor sister just can't catch a break! She has to get some major dental work done that's going to cost major $$$. If I win the lottery....it's on me!

Bath Time for Buster

Finally It's Friday

I always find the 1st week in January the longest week of the year. Despite being a short week it seems to drag on forever!

Luca is sleeping better (6:00am is an improvement) and seems to be back eating again. I think the holidays and travel were just a bit much for him. He's a little one that likes his routine.

Not much on the agenda for the weekend. I think Lee and Ronan are coming over Saturday and cake decorating class on Sunday. We will have to get outside and play as the weather is supposed to be mild. I'm going to break in the mixer this weekend as well.

I went out last night of a couple of groceries at the local IGA store. Sobeys employees get a 10% coupon with out paystubs so I pulled that out at the checkout and the maybe 16 year old cashier asked me if my son or daughter worked at the store. Yikes......I'm getting old!

Tired, Tired, Tired.....

Luca has decided to become a very early riser. Since we returned from Saskatoon he has been up before 5:30am everyday. This morning was a new record......4:00am!!

I've decided to do a few things for myself this month. I'm taking a 2 hour session to "Learn to Knit" and I'm taking a cake decorating course. The decorating course is 4 two hour sessions. I'm excited and Lee is going to join me. It's been a long time since we have done anything together....should be fun!
